June 20 at the Auctions

Unfortunately, Wells Fargo sold off the home of Maria and Washington Davila today. We are hopeful that as renters they will find a way to stay in their Bernal home.

On June 18, 2012, the auctioneers went ahead with sales of two family’s homes in San Francisco (none went to investors and 4255 Folsom St. and 1251 31st Ave. went to the bank) despite blowing whistles, playing loud music, and yelling in protest.

Since Wells Fargo sold off the Davilas home, some of us went over to protest some more at the nearest Wells Fargo bank branch. Maria and Julien went into the branch and got the branch manager to fax our demand for a foreclosure moratorium and to reverse the auction of the Davilas home to Wells Fargo CEO John Stumpf. THose of us protesting outside the bank branch chanted, “Stop Evicting Our Neighbors”, “Boycott Wells Fargo!”, and “Move Your Money to a Credit Union” in English and Spanish. At least one person told us they closed their account at Wells Fargo as a result of the protest.

Thanks to everyone who helped out!
